Yesterday was our 15-year Wedding Anniversary! Yesterday, May 23rd, also marked the day we first started dating 19 years ago. It’s weird… It doesn’t feel like it’s been that long but at the same time, it feels like we’ve been with each other forever. It’s a good thing.
We met during my freshman year (her sophomore year). We were college sweethearts. We were engaged soon after graduating from college. We married within the year. Some might say we grew up together. I say, we continue to grow together.
Although we planned to celebrate our anniversary in San Diego during Memorial Day Weekend, I still wanted to make our actual anniversary day special. I surprised her by having flowers delivered to her classroom (she’s a teacher, too). Instead of red roses, I selected lilac colored roses because lilac was one of our wedding colors.
After school, we went out for dinner at the Cheesecake Factory at the Anaheim Gardenwalk. My wife wanted the kids to come along, so they did. Thankfully, they’re old enough to understand the significance of the occasion so we still had a nice time!
I really enjoy the Anaheim Gardenwalk mall. Unfortunately, a lot of the shops have closed so it feels a little bit like a ghost town. The restaurants and theater at the mall seem to be the only businesses that thrive there. Still, it was nice to not have to walk through a crowd of people.
We got to the Cheesecake Factory early enough that we didn’t have to wait for a table.
I decided to try their Veggie Burger. It was made with black beans and beets, giving it a purplish color… It was delicious but huge! Sadly, I didn’t have any room for dessert. We were thinking about buying some cheesecake to take home, but in the end, we decided we were okay without.
Since it was a school night and the kids had homework to do, we headed home. It was a great evening out but I’m looking forward to the weekend in San Diego we have planned.
What are your plans for this weekend?
