Anniversary Date…Continued

[Originally Published 05.28.2013]

This year, our anniversary fell on a school night. Although we had a great time on Thursday, we were looking forward to part 2 of our date during the Memorial Day weekend.

On Sunday morning, we left the kids with my parents and made our way to Coronado. My wife wanted to take her beach cruiser out for a ride along the Silver Strand. We took our time and enjoyed the scenery.

After our ride, we made our way to the Coronado Ferry Landing. The weather was perfect for enjoying coffee and hot chocolate al fresco.

Later, we went to the Village Pizzeria. If our date wasn’t already memorable enough, the server accidentally spilled the ice tea I ordered on the table. An iced tea tsunami was headed for my pants but thankfully I was able to jump out of the way, unscathed. Fortunately, my wife wasn’t in the line of fire. Sadly, in all of the excitement I forgot to take pictures of the incident. Our server was very embarrassed and apologetic… but we laughed it off.

For lunch, we shared the Pear Gorgonzola salad and the ‘Hippie’ pizza. Both were delicious!

After lunch, we drove out to Chula Vista to get some gelato at Melt.

Although it was only for a few hours, it was great to get away together to celebrate our anniversary. I’m looking forward to many more years and dates together.
